Gifts...(for Mom)

I just heard from the environmentalists that commercial florists are destroying the o-zone with all the pesticides they use for growing flowers.
I also read that a huge percentage of stuffed animals are made in mexico, and should not be purchased to further prevent the spread of swine flu.
Jewelers are also taking a hit following the news that the diamond trade is connected with African tribal warfare and piracy.
It seems like there aren't any gifts to give these days that don't do as much bad as good.
Which gets me thinking...
time and prayer are the two things that you can give that will result in no evil in the world. Don't be confused, they do cost. In our busy lives, the gift of our time is a sacrifice - perhaps the one we are most hesitant to make. Many would rather spend thirty seconds arranging a bouquet on ftd.com to "show" others how they feel rather than taking just five minutes to tell them. And prayer is a sacrifice as well. It is an act on another's behalf, going before the King and representing others and their needs.
Prayer and time. I want to thank you, Mom, for the gifts of both you have given and continue to give me over the years and the example you have set in doing so.
I wish I could be with you on this Mother's day, but though there are miles between us please know - my prayers and my time are yours.
Talk to you this afternoon.
